Custom Engraved Wine Glasses

In most cases wine glasses are engraved when the value is over $5 – $7 and they are presented as a gift rather that a promotion. Engraved wine glasses can have company or organization logos, text and can even be personalized with the recipient’s name just like an engraved award. When presenting wine glasses with an engraved decanter as a set the decanter usually has the logo and the award dedication text and optionally the recipient’s name, but the wine glasses generally only have the logo. This is because wine glasses have less room for decoration than the decanter. When decorating wine glasses for events they are generally less expensive, under $5.00, and are screen printed. Wine glasses imprinted with ink is a less expensive method of decoration, which is why it is used for less expensive stemware and when it is necessary to decorate a larger number of glasses with an identical logo or message. As part of the imprinting process the stemware is heat treated to permanently bond the ink to the stemware in the same manner as imprinting ceramic or glass coffee cups. Most screen printing processes do not generally offer personalization of individual names on wine glasses like engraving, but are restricted to decorating all the glasses in the exact same manner. Engraved Wine DecantersThey also have larger minimum quantity order requirements, from 36 to 72 pieces. It is important to also note that most commercial stemware decorators have a special color ink that is used for imprinting stemware to “look” like it is engraved or “frosted”. This method is very popular for decorating stemware for events and gives the stemware an upscale look. This process is called ‘satin imprinting’ or ‘satin etch’, even though it is not actually etching or engraving the wine glasses.
